Sa Pilipinas ya'an!

There are nights when lovers are silhouetted against the fountain and its facade is lit up in a serene glow that the Cultural Center of the Philippines gives the sense that this country takes its arts and culture seriously.
Then you see the giant stooge-like figure in the background rising above architect Leandro Locsin's magnum opus, and come back to reality, which is that our premier institution for cultural promotion and performance has to lease out some of its space to an amusement park.

But inside on the night of June 9, aging national artists were feted like rock stars, mobbed by autograph seekers, serenaded by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, and given a standing ovation.
